The Vikosmo VK-100APg Wireless Access Point is a multifunction device that also operates as an Ethernet bridge and a repeater. Using 802.11g/b communication standards allows for an integrated network with speeds up to 54Mbps. With amazingly high signal strengththat is common in all Vikosmo wireless products, you can be sure that you will get the maximum bandwidth for your game console, STB, PC, or any other Ethernet enabled device.
If you've got a device with an Ethernet port, make it wireless with CLIENT MODE!
There are 6 operating modes that the VK-100APg is capable of.
-
AP mode:
Setting this mode in VK-100APg causes it to act as a communication hub for users of wireless devices, allowing them to connect to a wired LAN environment. The VK-100APg offers heightened wireless security and extendes the physical range of service a wireless user has access to. Using this mode will integrate your wireless and wired devices to form a cohesive network.
-
Client mode:
Setting this mode in VK-100APg allows the user device to communicate on the network by first going through an Access Point (AP) or router, and requires access to the wired LAN in order to use services such as file servers or printers. Commonly used in Game Systems and STBs, this mode will make any Ethernet enabled device wireless, with or without security.
-
Bridge mode:
Setting this mode in VK-100APg will allow it to communicate directly with another device, without the use of an access point (AP). It is also referred to as peer-to-peer mode.
-
WDS Mode:
WDS, or Wireless Distribution System, will enable you to extend the useful range of your network. If your installation is one where a single Access Point isn't enough to provide a good coverage, setting this mode in several VK-100APg (several Access Points) whill extend your coverage to connect your network equipment.
-
Universal Repeater Mode:
It is also a good way to extend your network coverage, and doesn't require the remote wireless devices to have the above mentioned WDS function.
-
RADIUS Mode:
Specifies the RADIUS server information if you have an external RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service) server to authenticate a user.
The following diagram demonstrates some of the modes available:
